Brand Marks

  • Created for AARP and the Georgia Retired Educators Association, Connections is a volunteer program made of retired educators and other AARP embers, helping at-risk high schoolers make college and career plans for life after high school. Rendering a “merging traffic” sign while creating a pencil seemed to be the perfect image to communicate their mission.
  • Facial plastic surgery can be described as an art form, where the end results are measured visually. So like framing in a painting, hands were illustrated to create negative space, forming a face, becoming a unique and very memorable mark.
  • Guardian is a heartworm preventative for large and small dogs. The mark uses two dogs, looking in different directions, guarding each other. It was used on all product packaging and advertising.
  • To celebrate the completion of the BSO's European tour, plus kick-off their new season, this mark was designed using three vital elements; a treble clef, a conductor and a baton. The final mark is musical and entertaining, with a touch of class.
  • The company was named after the town Cana of Galilee, where Jesus turned water into wine. Like the water-to-wine metaphor, Cana's mission is to turn real estate ventures into opportunities. So using this as a visual cue, I morphed a cap letter C into a reflection while graduating the color blue to burgundy, emphasizing the transition.
  • For CBS's new viewing season I created marks that uniquely defined each program. “The CBS Late Movie” mark displays both humor and creativity, reinforcing the name of the program and directly relating it to the network by utilizing the classic CBS “eye” and put it half asleep.
  • Cody's Hope is a small foundation formed to raise funds for a young boy named Cody, severely burned in a house fire. Huge medical expenses and physical therapy sessions have hit his mother, a single parent, in a very dramatic way. However there is so much support and hope. His life now is like a rebirth, a beginning, like when he was safe within his mother's womb. The logo says all of this. Cody being re-born, starting to grow and blossom, attached to the leaves of life.
  • An email parsing system, Express selects, filters and categorizes incoming email and views them in colors according to priority. With a hand wrapped around the letter “e” pointing, the brand mark communicates immediate and direct.
  • FEI offers leadership and management courses to career leaders of federal, local and state government. Located in Charlottesville, VA, FEI is staffed with America's elite corps of training professionals. Flags are prominent fixtures on the FEI campus and line the entrance drive. So as a distinguishable element within the new identity a flag was selected and wrapped it with their initials.
  • A leading consultancy and systems integrator, HMG's mission is to bring business and technology together in the development of solutions intended to maximize customer ROI. To communicate their mission a sphere was used showing equal forces of business and technology coming together, working for the good of the company.
  • The law firm's core philosophy is “Stability and permanence, diversity and creativity.” Closely linked to Buckminster Fuller's concept of ldquo;tensegrity”, the new brand mark design reinforces their philosophy by rendering the firm's initials in a self evolving pyramid.
  • Sitting high above the ridge overlooking the Potomac River with magnificent views of Maryland, Pennsylvania and West Virginia, rests a Berkeley Springs WV destination. Panorama Restaurant, a rustic stone, log and stucco building offering classic dining using local farm fresh products. The logo captures the atmosphere, the textures and colors while illustrating the vista in a nostalgic way.
  • Parents Anonymous is the nations oldest child abuse prevention organization, dedicated to strengthening families and building caring communities that support safe and nurturing homes for all children. In this mark I wanted to show as simply as possible that bond between parent and child.
  • SelfServe is an easy to use server base, database driven web authoring program. To illustrate the product's key attributes, arrows were formed, pointing in different directions to render the letter “S.” The mark conveys the feeling of “information in, information out.”
  • Spoons, in Baltimore's historic Federal Hill, has been a local favorite for years and the first Certified Green Restaurant in the State of Maryland. Offering in-house roasted coffee and espresso, Spoons also has a large variety of breakfast items served all day plus lunch items including soups, salads and sandwiches. The new brand mark underscores their name in a warm, playful and friendly way.
  • Transition Talks is a speaker series, presenting discussions from the green community on how Shepherdstown, WV can move towards a sustainable future, sponsored by Sustainable Shepherdstown. The brand mark uses two intersecting leaves, in a yin - yang motif, where the graphic highlights green, interaction and exchange and underscores think globally, act locally.
  • Produced for Codeangel Software Inc., WebWrite is an authoring program that produces websites seamlessly and simultaneously as you are preparing your publication for press. To communicate these attributes we took a classic serif text font and wrapped it with a representative html sans serif font.
  • Revivex is a “water and stain repellent” engineered for Gore-Tex products. The brand mark design highlights the products key attributes, and illustrates the functional benefits, by showing a drip bouncing off the name.

AARP

Our clients, AARP and the Georgia Retired Educators Association, needed a brand mark for a collaborative program called Connections. This is a volunteer program that utilizes the talents of retired educators and other AARP members. The program offers help to at-risk high school students as they make college and career plans for life after high school. We created a brand mark that rendered a “merging traffic” sign that blends into a pencil. This was the perfect image to communicate their mission.
